Waste and Minerals Plan - consultation closes at midnight on 24 April 2012.
We have prepared a Proposed Submission Waste and Minerals Plan for East Sussex, South Downs and Brighton & Hove. You have the opportunity to make representations on legal compliance and soundness between 24 February 2012 and midnight on 24 April 2012.
Now the National Planning Policy Framework has been published, we have extended the consultation period by two weeks.
You can view the NPPF and the technical guidance relating to Minerals and Flooding on the Communities and Local Government website. If you have already commented on the Proposed Submission Waste and Minerals Plan, we will be contacting you to ask if you want to update your comments.
In addition to the revised framework of national policy, there is a new test of soundness. In addition to the existing tests, plans should be positively prepared. The government explains this as:
"The plan should be prepared based on strategy which seeks to meet objectively assessed development and infrastructure requirements, including unmet requirements from neighbouring authorities where it is reasonable to do so and consistent with achieving sustainable development."
