LATEST Winter 2011
Implications for the timetable and content of the Core Strategy have arisen from Government announcements as follows:
- The review of the National Waste Strategy
- Changes to the planning system
- Proposed Revocation of the Regional Spatial Strategy.
Given this uncertainty it would be counter-productive to publish a revised Strategy ahead of the outcome of the Government review of the National Waste Strategy (currently expected in May) and could result in the need for a further consultation stage. In the meantime we are reviewing our initial appraisal of waste disposal to land and talking to the waste industry and adjoining waste authorities.

The Waste and Minerals Development Framework
The production of minerals and the management of waste are both important for our everyday lives:
- Space is running out at landfill sites.
- We need to find sites for new waste facilities whilst protecting the environment.
- Minerals are needed for our built infrastructure, e.g. for roads and housing.
The Waste and Minerals Development Framework will be made up of the following Development Plan Documents :
- Waste & Minerals Core Strategy.
- Minerals Sites document.
- Waste Sites document.
- Proposals Map
During the preparation of the documents there will be ongoing dialogue with stakeholders and communities in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove.
Further details regarding the timetable for the Waste and Minerals Development Framework can be found in the East Sussex County Council Minerals & Waste Development Scheme.
